Euro Falls against Dollar, Asian Markets Retreat

May 17, 2010

17/05/2010 The European unified currency is facing more risks as it has fallen to four-year low against the dollar, after being hit by renewed fears over the strength of the Eurozone country and as the global stock markets mostly retreated on Monday, with the heaviest falls in Asia .

Despite the huge sums of money pledged in support for Eurozone countries, the Euro fell to $1.2237, while one pound was worth 1.1702 Euros. Thus, severe austerity measures are needed to cut budget deficits and debt.
This is affecting the value of the euro as analysts worry the cuts will hold back economic growth in the Eurozone.

Asian equity markets tumbled on Monday, with Shanghai diving five percent to reach the lowest level in more than a year. Tokyo fell 2.17 percent, hitting an 11-week low, Hong Kong shed 2.14 percent and Sydney slumped 3.12 percent.
The picture was brighter in Europe, with London managing to rise 0.44 percent and Frankfurt up 0.16 percent in morning trade, although Paris fell 0.45 percent.

This situation is affecting the value of the euro as analysts worry the cuts will hold back economic growth in the Eurozone.
John Kyriakopoulos, from the National Australia Bank in Sydney, said: “Concerns that severe fiscal austerity in the eurozone will crush growth in the region continues to weigh (on the euro).”

The debt crisis began when Greece teetered towards default triggering fears that other weak Eurozone economies such as Portugal, Spain and Italy may be next.
Athens is now paying a painful price for its past overspending with the government forced to slash civil servant pay and pensions while raising taxes as a condition for a 110-billion-euro EU-IMF bailout.

The IMF and EU agreed the Greek bailout only at the beginning of May, and a week later were forced to put together a trillion-dollar –750 bn euro- a rescue plan to the unified currency as investors continued to dump the currency and European shares.

BP has ‘systematic’ safety problems: U.S. official- FT

May 17, 2010

LONDON, May 17 (Reuters) – Energy giant BP <BP.L><BP.N> has a “systematic safety problem” at its refineries, a U.S Labour Department official told the Financial Times in its Monday edition. “BP executives, they talk a good line.
They say they want to improve safety,” Jordan Barab, a senior official at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, known as OSHA, told the paper. “But it doesn’t always translate down to the refineries themselves.
They still have a systematic safety problem,” Barab said. Last year U.S. safety regulators hit oil giant BP with a record $87.4 million fine for failing to fix safety violations at its Texas City, Texas, refinery after a deadly 2005 explosion.
Barab’s comments come as the company struggles to contain a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico caused by a deadly oil rig explosion last month. (Reporting by Caroline Copley; Editing by Jan Paschal)

Senate panel approves money for Afghan, Iraq wars

May 15, 2010

By Susan Cornwell

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A Senate committee on Thursday approved another $33.5 billion for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq this year, although some members said they did so reluctantly.

The action by the Senate Appropriations Committee is the first step toward congressional approval of the extra war spending that President Barack Obama requested in February to support his surge of 30,000 more U.S. troops into Afghanistan.

But the money still must be approved by the full Senate and also by the House of Representatives, where the majority Democrats are split over the wisdom of continuing the wars.

The Senate panel unanimously approved $33.5 billion for the Pentagon for the two wars and a little under $4 billion for the State Department to help fund a “civilian stabilization strategy” to deliver more economic aid to Afghanistan as well as neighboring Pakistan.

Chairman Daniel Inouye said he hoped the Senate would act on the legislation by the end of May. The money comes on top of about $130 billion that Congress already approved for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars through September 30 of this year.

Senator Barbara Mikulski said she had “grave questions” about spending so much in Afghanistan given that its president is “running the second-most corrupt country in the world.”

While U.S. troops are fighting in Afghanistan, “the Chinese are building railroads and buying up mining interests” there, Mikulski added. But she voted for the bill.

Senator Patrick Leahy, another Democrat, echoed her concerns.

“Every cent we’ve been spending in Iraq and Afghanistan, we’ve been borrowing from others, particularly the Chinese,” he said. “It’s very, very hard to justify some of the spending for either place.”

In addition to fully funding Obama’s troop surge for Afghanistan, the Pentagon funds included money to help train and equip Afghan and Iraqi security forces — $2.6 billion and $1 billion, respectively.

It also included $1.1 billion for mine-resistant vehicles known as MRAPs.

The appropriations committee added money for other projects to the bill, including:

— $13 billion for benefits for Vietnam War veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange.

— $2.8 billion requested by the Obama administration for relief and reconstruction for Haiti after its devastating earthquake on January 12.

— $5.1 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. “Everyone should be advised that the … agency is out of funding for disaster relief,” Inouye said.

— $400 million for relief from recent floods from Tennessee to Rhode island.

— $68 million to help address the impact of the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Cover–up: BP’s Crude Politics And The Looming Environmental Mega–Disaster

May 14, 2010

Gulf of Mexico worst Case Scenarios– Coming Fast with Possible Terrorist Tie-in

This is a horror story which will become so much worse, it will become the dominant news story for the forseeable future. It includes Haliburton, the release of unprecedented geologic forces and a potential world wide catastrophe, not only ecologically, but much more, especially if the river of oil spewing from the deepwater, hyper-pressurized sea-floor opening reaches the gulf stream, which will quickly spread it all the way up the
east coast and beyond, possibly even to Europe.

NOAA projection of oil spread.

image and caption from wikipedia

The prime players are:

* BP– owner of the oil field and the leaking Macondo Prospect well,
* Transocean corporation, owner of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig– a rig which, last year drilled the world’s deepest deepest oil/gas well in BP’s Gulf of MexicoTiber Oilfield, at a depth of 35,000 feet. The company has merged with and acquired numerous companies over its history and is now registered as a Swiss corporation, with it’s principal office in Houston Texas.
* Haliburton corporation, which was acting as a subcontractor, cementing the well head to the sea-floor.
* Hyundai Heavy IndustriesinUlsan, South Korea. which built the Deepwater Horizon

The well that is now spewing the oil is located atMacondo Prospect.Wikipedia reports that “Macondo Prospectis the name given to an oil and gas prospect located in Block MC (Mississippi Canyon) 194 in theGulf of Mexico. Ownership is 65% byBP, 25% byAnadarko Petroleum Corporation(owned bySouthern Union Company, which strangely, does not have a listing in wikipedia, It’s CEO isGeorge L. Lindemann, ranked byForbesin 2006 as one of the 400 wealthiest families) and 10% by a unit of Mitsui. Forbes reported on April 21 that the well was drilling in rock 18,000 feet down when there may have been a blowout.

Underestimation seems to be the pattern here. Reportssuggest that if the pipe the oil is gushing from, already believed to be kinked, breaks, and if the wellhead fails, the amount of oil gushing out could rise from the lower current estimates of 200,000 to one million gallons a day to up to six million gallons a day. Exon-Valdez’s damage was caused by a total of 11 million gallons released. For all we know, the amount released could already be far more than the 200,000 gallon a day estimate. suggests that rather than considering this a “spill” it be considered a”river of oil.”

This is not your ordinary well. TheDeepWater Horizon semi submersible drilling rig, operated on behalf of BP byTransocean Corporation (9 of the 11 workers who died were Transocean employees) had the history of having dug the deepest well ever, in a nearby Gulf field also owned by BP. This well breaks ground 5000 feet below the surface and then drills down thousands of feet more, hitting a highly compressed reservoir of oil that is now gushing upwards like water a super-pressurized fire-hose. Replace any visualizations you may have of a trickle of leaking oil with an image of a hyper-pressurized river of oil ballistically billowing, explosively from a hole in the sea-floor Haliburton was commissioned to properly seal.

Without the controls on the release of the oil at the top of the platform, the oil is rushing through faster than it would have, with more sand, more abrasion eroding the pipes. The pipes are more likely to break. The worst case is if the wellhead breaks, unleashing the full flow of this well. Consider that pressures 5000 feet below the surface are enough to pulverize a human. Then consider that the well is tapping a a petroleum field even deeper, below the surface of the earth, with even greater pressures pushing it up, out of the mile-deep sea floor.

The oil that is released is quickly moving further from the source and could and probably will start moving up the east coast. If that happens, it could get into the gulf stream which could make it a far wider reaching disaster that touches all of the eastern US coastal states and Canadian provinces.

Then, there’s the question of the cause of the explosion. One source, of questionable reliability, TheEuropean Union Timessuggests that the platform explosion was caused by a North Korean Mini-sub, launched on April 20th from a ship which departed Cuba on April 18th and then deviated far from it’s scheduled course to Venezuela. The article speculates that theTransocean Corporation which owns and operated platform, has ties to South Korea through Hyuundai holdings in the company, so this was an attack by N. Korea on it’s enemy, South Korea. The article also speculates that this will force Obama to make a decision to use a nuclear warhead to close the uncontrolled leaking well. Use of a nuclear bomb, for any reason, will hurt Obama’s recent efforts to reduce Nuclear weapon ownership worldwide. Note that this article is not corroborated and claims to be privy to Russian and Japanese reports.

Even if the EU Times article is pure conspiracy theory, the fact is, the world faces a catastrophic situation that cannot be waited out. It is already at a regional catastrophic level. It could, within days or weeks become a hemispheric catastrophic event. Just this fact forces us to take a closer look at all the parties involved, not just BP, which leased the platform.

There is a site that was created in response to the disaster,,set up by a company that does emergency media responses, It displays, at the header of the site, logos from several US agencies, BP and Transocean corporation.

The EPA has also created a site to cover news and developments relating to the gulf disaster.

Randall Amster, writing in the Huiffingtonpost, discusses a Haliburton connection, in an article titled, Was the Gulf Oil Spill an Act of War? You Betcha:

As arecent articlein theHuffington Postnotes:

“Giant oil-services provider Halliburton may be a primary suspect in the investigation into the oil rig explosion that has devastated the Gulf Coast, the Wall Street Journal reports. Though the investigation into the explosion that sank the Deepwater Horizon site is still in its early stages, drilling experts agree that blame probably lies with flaws in the ‘cementing’ process — that is, plugging holes in the pipeline seal by pumping cement into it from the rig. Halliburton was in charge of cementing for Deepwater Horizon.”

The Los Angeles Timessubsequently reported that members of Congress have called on Halliburton “to provide all documents relating to ‘the possibility or risk of an explosion or blowout at the Deepwater Horizon rig and the status, adequacy, quality, monitoring, and inspection of the cementing work’ by May 7.” A YouTube video(which is actually mostly audio) more bluntly asserts that “Halliburton Caused Oil Spill,” and notes the fact — confirmed by Halliburton’s ownpress release– that its employees had worked on the final cementing “approximately 20 hours prior to the incident.” Interestingly, one commenter on the YouTube video notes how “that would conveniently explain the North Korean story; [Halliburton] may have leaked this story to the press to divert attention away from alleged negligence.” Wouldn’t that just be the ultimate? Halliburton spawns the calamity but pins it on North Korea, and then the nation goes to war whereby Halliburton “cleans up” through billions in war-servicing contracts.

The LA Times reports that Halliburton’s connection to the Deepwater Horizon disaster was it’s role in cementing the connection of the well’s casings to the sea-floor– an essential step in securing a well. It is also a step that is fraught with danger and the LA times article reports,

“Cementing a deep-water drilling operation is a process fraught with danger. A 2007 study by the U.S. Minerals Management Service found that cementing was the single most important factor in 18 of 39 well blowouts in the Gulf of Mexico over a 14-year period — more than equipment malfunction.

The Transocean Corporation website lists 139 drilling units it owns. The one DeepWater Horizon drill rig has been reported to cost over $600 million. Any extrapolation of the numbers for a fleet of such rigs makes it clear that Trans-ocean corporation is a very big company. But you might consider transocean to be the like a rental car company. BP owns the well and the oil field and it was using the Transocean drilling rig. Haliburton was doing a sub-contractor job, cementing the casings of the well. Now, the BP’s well is leaking, or worse, the hole it opened up is gushing oil at super-high pressure, from an uncontrolled rent in the seafloor.

A bit of Oil Spill disaster history.
The second worst Oil well spill took place in the gulf of Mexico in 1980. The Ixtoc 1, in Mexican waters, owned by Petroleos Mexicanos well leaked three million barrells of oil and took nine months to cap. It took two months for oil to wash onto Texas shores.

The worst spill was intentional, done by Iraqi soldiers in Kuwait, where over 10 million barrels were released into the Persian gulf.

TheReportcited above suggests that the leak from the BP Macondo Prospect well could hit 150,000 barrels per day. If it takes nine months to cap the BP Macondo Prospect well, then the “spill” could exceed 40 million barrels. Estimates of the oil fields suggest 10-15 BILLION barrels of oil in these deposits.

Considering Terrorism, Accidents and Catastrophic Consequences
Let’s talk about that report of a N. Korean connection. It’s from an obscure site using more obscure un-linked sources. The conspiracy-theory prone will love it. But let’s not totally rule out it, or some other potential nefarious intentioned actions. When we start looking into what a leak of a major well can do to damage the US, then questions about targeting of a gulf well, and defense and security for any gulf well become reasonable. What security was in place for that well and all the other wells in the Gulf? What analysis and plans did Homeland Security have for either accidents or intentional attacks on wells that, if damaged, could wreak such devastating consequences.

What kinds of resources would be required to break through whatever security defenses were in place? Who might have those resources?

Now we face an unprecedented catastrophe with world wide consequences and effects. How much preparation and planning has gone into anticipating it, dealing with it?

If this river of oil gets worse, who knows the permanent or long term damage on vast swathes of ocean will be? Who knows how much damage will be done to breeding grounds and hatcheries of sea life and the birds that live off that sea life before they play a role in pollination and seed distribution. From the bottom up, the affects of this one “spill” upon the people and environment and life in the US, this catastrophy is huge and the effects will be enormous. Already delays and underestimation of the problem have allowed delays that are bad news.

We’re not hearing much about BP’s efforts to close the leaks or cap the well. At a potential 10-15 billion barrels, we’re talking about a field that could ultimately yield over a trillion dollars worth of oil. That means BP and it’s two partners will look at salvaging the field and perhaps weigh that consideration over the risks to the environment and all the jobs the oil damage will cause.

It’s essential that Barack Obama take over operations immediately, directing BP on what to do. There’s a possibility that an alternate well can be drilled that would shunt the flow of the oil and control the flow. If that’s even possible, who knows how long that will take?

There’s another consideration. It’s part of that N. Korean conspiracy theory narrative– the use of a nuclear warhead to close the leak. It’s an extreme reaction. We know so little about what effect that will have– a tsunami or tidal wave? Massive destruction of sea life? Radioactive seawater producing radioactive shrimp and oysters and all the fish that commercial fisherman out of Louisiana catch? Use a nuke or allow the river of oil to flow into and up the Gulf until it is moved all the way to Europe. This is a no-win situation. What if a nuclear explosion sets off other geological activity or worsens the oil release? What if Obama looks at the nuclear option and decides it’s a good idea because there are a lot of red-mean Americans who like fireworks who would love to have the US explode a nuclear weapon in their lifetime?

We live in an ever shrinking world where decisions in one place affect more and more of us. This catastrophy shows us just how risky our dependence on oil has become. While we struggle with and face this major test, we should remember that the need for oil is becoming a more and more danger producing factor on this planet and we should do all we can to end our dependence upon it as soon as possible.

MSG – Slowly Poisoning America

May 14, 2010

I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo, and spent years working for the government.

He made an amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was writing called The Slow Poisoning of America. In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies.

No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists have to create them. They make these morbidly obese creatures by injecting them with a chemical when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and humans?) to become obese They even have a title for the race of fat rodents they create: “MSG-Treated Rats” .

I was shocked too. I went to my kitchen, checking the cupboards and the fridge.

MSG was in everything! The Campbell’s soups, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavored potato chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy, Swanson frozen prepared meals, Kraft salad dressings, especially the ‘healthy low fat’ ones. The items that didn’t have MSG had something called Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, which is just another name for Monosodium Glutamate. It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children everyday are filled with this stuff. They hide MSG under many different names in order to fool those who catch on.

But it didn’t stop there. When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the restaurants what menu items had MSG. Many employees, even the managers, swore they didn’t use MSG. But when we ask for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided, sure enough MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere. Burger King, McDonalds, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, every restaurant, even the sit down ones like TGIF, Chilis’, Applebees and Denny’s use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that coating on the skin, their secret spice was MSG!

So why is MSG in so may of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative or a vitamin?

Not according to my friend John. In the book he wrote, an expose of the food additive industry called The Slow Poisoning of America, ( ), he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body.

Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG at explains that the reason they add it to food is to make people eat more. A study of elderly people showed that people eat more of the foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobby group says eating more benefits the elderly, but what does it do to the rest of us?

‘Betcha can’t eat just one’, takes on a whole new meaning where MSG is concerned!

And we wonder why the nation is overweight? The MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn’t added.

Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance: NICOTINE for FOOD!

Since its introduction into the American food supply fifty years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger doses to the prepackaged meals, soups, snacks and fast foods we are tempted to eat everyday.

The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food. They claim it’s safe to eat in any amount.

How can they claim it is safe when there are hundreds of scientific studies with titles like these?

The monosodium glutamate (MSG) obese rat as a model for the study of exercise in obesity. Gobatto CA, Mello MA, Souza CT, Ribeiro IA. Res Commun Mol Pathol Pharmacol. 2002

Adrenalectomy abolishes the food-induced hypothalamic serotonin release in both normal and monosodium glutamate-obese rats. Guimaraes RB, Telles MM, Coelho VB, Mori RC, Nascimento CM, Ribeiro Brain Res Bull. 2002 Aug

Obesity induced by neonatal monosodium glutamate treatment in spontaneously hypertensive rats: an animal model of multiple risk factors. Iwase M, Yamamoto M, Iino K, Ichikawa K, Shinohara N, Yoshinari Fujishima

Hypertens Res. 1998 Mar

Hypothalamic lesion induced by injection of monosodium glutamate in suckling period and subsequent development of obesity. Tanaka K, Shimada M, Nakao K, Kusunoki Exp Neurol. 1978 Oct

Yes, that last study was not a typo, it WAS written in 1978. Both the medical research community and food “manufaturers” have known MSG’s side effects for decades!

Many more studies mentioned in John Erb’s book link MSG to Diabetes,

Migraines and headaches, Autism, ADHD and even Alzheimer’s.

But what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumping fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the obesity epidemic we now see?

Even as you read this, George W. Bush and his corporate supporters are pushing a Bill through Congress. Called the “Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act” also known as the “Cheeseburger Bill”, this sweeping law bans anyone from suing food manufacturers, sellers and distributors. Even if it comes out that they purposely added an addictive chemical to their foods. Read about it for yourself at: tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040311/ap_on_go_co/obesity_lawsuits_4

The Bill has already been rushed through the House of Representatives, and is due for the same rubber stamp at Senate level. It is important that Bush and his corporate supporters get it through before the media lets everyone know about MSG, the intentional Nicotine for food.

Several months ago, John Erb took his book and his concerns to one of the highest government health officials in Canada. While sitting in the Government office, the official told him “Sure I know how bad MSG is, I wouldn’t touch the stuff!” But this top level government official refused to tell the public what he knew.

The big media doesn’t want to tell the public either, fearing legal issues with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on the fast food industry may hurt their profit margin.

So what do we do?

The food producers and restaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, and now we are paying the price for it.

Our children should not be cursed with obesity caused by an addictive food additive.

But what can I do about it? I’m just one voice, what can I do to stop the poisoning of our children, while guys like Bush are insuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us.

I for one am doing something about it.

I am sending this email out to everyone I know in an attempt to show you the truth that the corporate owned politicians and media won’t tell you.

The best way you can help save yourself and your children from this drug-induced epidemic, is to forward this email to everyone. With any luck, it will circle the globe before Bush can pass the Bill protecting those who poisoned us.

The food industry learned a lot from the tobacco industry. Imagine if big tobacco had a bill like this in place before someone blew the whistle on Nicotine?

Blow the whistle on MSG.

If you are one of the few who can still believe that MSG is good for us, and you don’t believe what John Erb has to say, see for yourself. Go to the National Library of Medicine, at . Type in the words “MSG Obese”, and read a few of the 115 medical studies that appear.

We do not want to be rats in one giant experiment, and we do not approve of food that makes us into a nation of obese, lethargic, addicted sheep, waiting for the slaughter.

With your help we can put an end to this, and stop the Slow Poisoning of America. Let’s save our children

Hidden Sources Of MSG In Foods
From the book ‘Excitotoxins – The Taste That Kills’
By Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD

What if someone were to tell you that a chemical (MSG) added to food could cause brain damage in your children, and that this chemical could effect how your children’s nervous systems formed during development so that in later years they may have learning or emotional difficulties?

What if there was scientific evidence that these chemicals could permanently damage a critical part of the brain known to control hormones so that later in life your child might have endocrine problems? How would you feel?

Suppose evidence was presented to you strongly suggesting that the artificial sweetener in your diet soft drink may cause brain tumors to develop, and that the number of brain tumors reported since the introduction of this widespread introduction of this artificial sweetener has risen dramatically? Would that affect your decision to drink these products and especially to allow your children to drink them? What if you could be shown overwhelming evidence that one of the main ingredients in this sweetener (aspartate) could cause the same brain lesions as MSG? Would that affect your buying decisions?

And finally, what if it could be demonstrated that all of these types of chemicals, called excitotoxins, could possibly aggravate or even precipitate many of today’s epidemic neurodegenerative brain diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, ALS, and Alzheimer’s disease? Would you be concerned if you knew that these excitotoxin food additives are a particular risk if you have diabetes, or have ever had a stroke, brain injury, brain tumor, seizure, or have suffered from hypertension, meningitis, or viral encephalitis?

Would you also be upset to learn that many of the brain lesions caused by these products in your children are irreversible and can result from a SINGLE exposure of these products in sufficient concentration?

How would you feel when you learn the food industry hides and disguises these excitotoxin additives (MSG and Aspartate) so they can’t be recognized? Incredulous? Enraged? The fact is many foods are labeled as having “No MSG” but in fact not only contain MSG but also are laced with other excitotoxins of equal potency and danger.

All of the above are true. And all of these well known brain toxins are poured into our food and drink by the thousands of tons to boost sales. These additives have NO OTHER purpose other than to enhance to TASTE of food and the SWEETNESS of various diet products.

Hidden Sources Of MSG
As discussed previously, the glutamate (MSG) manufacturers and the processed food industries are always on a quest to disguise the MSG added to food. Below is a partial list of the most common names for disguised MSG. Remember also that the powerful excitotoxins, aspartate and L-cystine, are frequently added to foods and according to FDA rules require NO LABELING AT ALL.
* Food Additives that ALWAYS contain MSG *

Monosodium Glutamate
Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein
Hydrolyzed Protein
Hydrolyzed Plant Protein
Plant Protein Extract
Sodium Caseinate
Calcium Caseinate
Yeast Extract
Textured Protein (Including TVP)
Autolyzed Yeast
Hydrolyzed Oat Flour
Corn Oil

* Food Additives That FREQUENTLY Contain MSG *

Malt Extract
Malt Flavoring
Natural Flavors/Flavoring
Natural Beef Or Chicken Flavoring

* Food Additives That MAY Contain MSG Or Excitotoxins *

Soy Protein Concentrate
Soy Protein Isolate
Whey Protein Concentrate
Also: Protease Enzymes of various sources can release excitotoxin amino acids from food proteins.
Aspartame – An Intense Source Of Excitotoxins
Aspartame is a sweetener made from two amino acids, phenylalanine and the excitotoxin aspartate. It should be avoided at all costs. Aspartame complaints accounts for approximately 70% of ALL complaints to the FDA. It is implicated in everything from blindness to headaches to convulsions. Sold under dozens of brand names such as NutraSweet and Equal, aspartame breaks down within 20 minutes at room temperature into several primary toxic and dangerous ingredients:
1. DKP (diketopiperazine) (When ingested, converts to a near duplicate of
a powerful brain tumor causing agent)
2. Formic Acid (ant venom)
3. Formaldehyde (embalming fluid)
4. Methanol (causes blindness…extremely dangerous substance)
Common Examples:
Diet soft drinks, sugar free gums, sugar free Kool Aid, Crystal Light, childrens’ medications, and thousands of other products claiming to be ‘low calorie’, ‘diet’, or ‘sugar free’.
A Final Note…
Dr. Blaylock recounted a meeting with a senior executive in the food additive industry who told him point blank that these excitotoxins are going to be in our food no matter how many name changes are necessary…

Beating Cancer Gently – Vitamin D3 Wins Again!!

May 14, 2010

Many of you have read and listened as I raved about the benefits of Vitamin D3 in recent months. Well, I have some personal evidence now of how incredibly useful it is that I want to share with you. Those of you who have heard my web talk radio show this week can skip down to the section about my grandson, which wasn’t on the radio show.

On Thursday, April 15th, I was preparing to leave the next morning for Michigan to visit my daughter and her husband, two of my grandsons and their wives and five of my great grand-babies (with two more “on the way”). My flight was scheduled to leave Oakland (about an hour from where we live) at 7:00 AM. Well, right about 3 PM in the afternoon, I began shaking. My fever shot up to what felt like 104 degrees and my body was aching all over. I had a real attack of the flu — big time!

I crawled into bed and moaned for a few minutes. Then, a light came on in my head. I thought “Bill, you’ve been talking about Vitamin D3 and how great an anti-viral it is for weeks. How about ‘walking the walk’ instead of ‘talking the talk.'” I dragged myself downstairs and got the bottle of 5,000 I.U. Vitamin D3 gelcaps. I counted out 10 of them and swallowed them. I was feeling so bad, I didn’t want to even think. I just went back to bed. But I took the D3 bottle with me.

For the next three hours, I took the 50,000 I.U. dose of the Vitamin D3 every 30 minutes — a total of 300,000 I.U. I felt so bad that I called my daughter at about 5 PM and left her a message that I just had to postpone the trip.

Well, maybe you can guess what happened next. About 8 PM, I got up and realized that my fever was gone. My muscles and bones weren’t aching anymore. I felt weak and a little queasy in the stomach, but I said to myself “Hey, you’re about 80% recovered from this. Maybe you can make the trip after all.”

I went back to bed at 9 PM and slept until 3 AM. I got up, packed my bag and left for the airport at 4 AM to make the 7 AM flight. I was walking slowly and feeling weak, but otherwise, I was fine. At the airport, I called my daughter and told her I was on the way. She was, needless to say, very surprised.

During the flight, I took another 200,000 I.U. of the Vitamin D3. I changed planes in Chicago, got in to Detroit, rented a car and drove to my daughter’s house in Jackson, Michigan (about an hour away). I was gradually feeling better. By the time I got there, I was about 90% back to normal.

The next day, I went with the family to watch my 6 year old great grandson play a soccer game. It was very cold (about 37 degrees with a wind of 20 miles an hour). I bundled up and spent an hour and a half on the sidelines.

By then, Saturday morning, about 33 hours after the onset of the flu bug, I was feeling about 95% normal. Everybody was amazed.

By Saturday afternoon, I was completely recovered. I was so delighted that this wonderful trip had not been ruined by the flu bug.

On Monday afternoon, after a great weekend with my family, I learned that my 28-year-old grandson, Tim, had stayed home from work and was in bed with the flu. I don’t think he caught it from me. I’m pretty sure I was past being contagious by the time I got to Michigan, but who knows?

On Tuesday, I went over to Tim’s house and gave his wife, Becky, a bottle of 100 of the Vitamin D3 gelcaps. I told her what I would do if I were Tim. She took my advice and began feeding him large doses of the D3.

I got back home on Tuesday night, April 20th. I was feeling great! On Thursday, I called Tim to see how he was doing. Well, you guessed it. He told me that by Wednesday, he had completely recovered from the flu and went back to work.

Folks, this is probably the most useful information you will read this year. Stock up on this wonderful healer. It is incredibly inexpensive. A bottle of 100 of these 5,000 I.U. tiny gelcaps costs about $4. You now have not only a great preventative for colds and flu, but a great healer, as well. No need for flu shots. Just take a good dose (I take 10,000 I.U. every day) of this stuff and be prepared to load up on it if the flu bug (or a cold) hits you or anyone in your family.

My massive dose of the D3 was not taken blindly. My good friend, Cheryl Miller-Uphoff (author of the “Cancer Free Foods” recipe book) had used about 200,000 I.U. of it for three days or so to heal her flu several months ago. In fact, I had discussed her experience with Dr. William Grant, the authority on Vitamin D3 who I had interviewed on my radio show. He was completely OK with someone taking that much if they were sick with a virus. He said the level in your body will normalize with no problem after you stop taking the massive doses. Particularly when you are sick like I was, there is almost no toxic level of this stuff.

Obviously, for children, you should probably adjust the dose according to their size. But it will still work for them. Dr. Garcia (my question/answer buddy — see below) says the gelcaps are the best form to take the D3 in, but it also comes in liquid form which might be easier for a child to take.

Here are a couple of sources for you to stock up on this wonderful healer:

Here’s a quote from an article this week in Natural News about Vitamin D3 and diabetes:

“A team from Warwick Medical School in the U.K. has found that people who maintain healthy vitamin D levels are 43 percent less likely to get heart disease or diabetes. After evaluating 28 different studies conducted on nearly 100,000 people, researchers concluded that people who eat oily fish two or three times a week and five servings of fruits and vegetables a day are able to achieve healthy levels of vitamin D.

While the team evaluated only natural sources of vitamin D, including from sunlight exposure and consumption of oily fish like tuna, salmon, and mackerel, it is probable that supplementation with natural vitamin D3 would prove to have the same effect.”

Coincidentally, I got an e-mail a couple of weeks ago from my friend Tanya Pierce, author of “Outsmart Your Cancer.” Tanya was telling me about an exchange she had with Dr. Navarro (head of the Navarro Clinic in the Philippines) about the possible effects on the HCG Urine Test (see pp. 134-140 in my Cancer-Free — Third Edition book) of Vitamin D3, among other things. Here are some quotes from her message:

“Dr. Navarro has recently told Elonna McKibben that all hormones, including steroids, must be stopped for at least 3 days before the test to try to avoid a false positive. So, as you can see, instructions on this test have been changing…

…[Dr. Navarro] also confirmed that there are numerous factors that can adversely affect the test and cause ‘false positives.’ Most of these factors are hormones, so women who are on bioidentical hormones must stop their progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, or any other hormones they are on for anywhere between 3 days and two weeks (for the testosterone)…

…Dr. Navarro also said that vitamin D supplementation could even interfere with the test… [Vitamin D3 is actually a hormone, not a vitamin.]

…[Tanya concludes as follows] As far as cancer screening tests go, this HCG test is still a good test in many ways — possibly better than anything else out there. But it is not ‘cut and dried’ perfect in the way that both Bill [me] and Andy [Scholberg] have chosen to represent it to the public. They have never told the public that there are hormones, steroid medications, and even vitamin D that must be avoided for the test to be accurate and that even then the numbers should not be used all by themselves but should only be used along with other factors of each individual case to determine how well the person is doing. I really worry that there are people who will use the test the way Bill and Andy are recommending it and either assume they have cancer when they don’t (because they got a false positive score), or they will assume their alternative cancer treatment isn’t working because their HCG score hasn’t gone down yet when in some cases their treatment could be working very well and they just got a false positive on their test results for some other reason.”

Well, I thanked Tanya Pierce for her valuable information. I really was unaware of the effects of hormones and steroids on the HCG Urine Test. Dr. Navarro had never mentioned it in our many exchanges over the years. Do I still think the test is useful? You bet. Literally hundreds of people I’ve worked with over the last 8 years or so have found the trend indicated by this test very useful. But the bottom line here is that no test is perfect. This one is certainly no exception. It is a good indicator, but not a “be all and end all” test.

I suggest that if you are doing the HCG Urine Test you stop taking hormones (including Vitamin D3) and steroid medication at least three days before you collect the urine sample. Then follow Dr. Navarro’s advice on all the HCG test result e-mails. Confirm the HCG Urine Test results with other tests — CT/PET scans, MRI’s, etc.

End of story on “Vitamin D3” for now.

Be well…and be sure to hug each other every day!

China scientists find use for cigarette butts

May 13, 2010

HONG KONG (Reuters) – Chemical extracts from cigarette butts — so toxic they kill fish — can be used to protect steel pipes from rusting, a study in China has found.

In a paper published in the American Chemical Society’s bi-weekly journal Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, the scientists in China said they identified nine chemicals after immersing cigarette butts in water.

They applied the extracts to N80, a type of steel used in oil pipes, and found that they protected the steel from rusting.

“The metal surface can be protected and the iron atom’s further dissolution can be prevented,” they wrote.

The chemicals, including nicotine, appear to be responsible for this anti-corrosion effect, they added.

The research was led by Jun Zhao at Xi’an Jiaotong University’s School of Energy and Power Engineering and funded by China’s state oil firm China National Petroleum Corporation.

Corrosion of steel pipes used by the oil industry costs oil producers millions of dollars annually to repair or replace.

According to the paper, 4.5 trillion cigarette butts find their way into the environment each year. Apart from being an eyesore, they contain toxins that can kill fish.

“Recycling could solve those problems, but finding practical uses for cigarette butts has been difficult,” the researchers wrote.

China, which has 300 million smokers, is the world’s largest smoking nation and it consumes a third of the world’s cigarettes. Nearly 60 percent of men in China smoke, puffing an average of 15 cigarettes per day.

On Iran, the U.S. is Painting Itself into a Political and Moral Corner

May 3, 2010
“This confrontation [between the forces of the Apocalypse and Israel] is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins”.

U.S. President George W. Bush (in a 2003 conversation with French President Jacques Chirac)

“Preventive war was an invention of [Adolf] Hitler. Frankly, I would not even listen to anyone seriously that came and talked about such a thing.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

“We don’t desire any nuclear proliferation in our region, and our policy is well known regardless of which country has such programs. For us it doesn’t matter whether it is Israel or Iran. I will call on the international community, which is so sensitive toward Iran, to pay attention to Israel, too.”

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s Prime Minister

“Nothing in this Treaty shall be interpreted as affecting the inalienable right of all the Parties to the Treaty to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes without discrimination.”

The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)

By now, most everybody knows that the (2003-) Bush-Cheney Iraq War was based on fiction and on deception. There was no such thing as “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq, the rationale for an illegal attack against that country. And Bush II and his accomplices knew that.

But incredibly, just as the Bush-Cheney administration did in order to launch a war against Iraq in 2003 by (falsely) alleging that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, the Obama-Biden administration, in 2010, is arguing for unilateral sanctions against Iran and even beating the drums of war against Iran, alleging that its program to enrich uranium and operate nuclear power plants is posing an existential threat to Israel, to Europe and to the United States.

Besides being a blatant exaggeration, this is nevertheless most dangerous. Indeed, such an eventual military attack—which, by the way, would be illegal under international law—would also have dire economic consequences, because it would almost certainly result in the closing of the narrow Strait of Hormuz. Should we be reminded that it is through this strait that roughly 40 percent of all world traded oil transits out of the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea. Its closing would push the international oil price to unheard of levels.

Therefore, if the pro-Israel lobby and the pro-war neocon press were to succeed in 2010-11 in triggering a hot war against Iran, as they did in 2002-03 against Iraq, this could easily turn the current festering financial crisis into a full-fledged worldwide economic depression. Believe me, the last thing the world economy needs now is an oil-shock that would derail the present feeble economic recovery.

But the most disconcerting of all is no doubt the implicit threat  recently made by President Barack Obama, on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, to launch a nuclear attack against Iran and North Korea if these countries refuse to toe Washington’s line. That sort of loose language is most dangerous because it may serve to trivialize the military use of nuclear weapons, a disaster that the world must avoid. The round of pronouncements demonizing Iran and the incessant calls for sanctions against a sovereign country by other U.S. politicians is also most unproductive, even though that may make for good domestic politics.

This is of course in addition to the use of unmanned drones to drop bombs on civilians in Pakistan and other American death squad activities in Afghanistan that the Obama administration has intensified since gaining power. There seems to be a pattern here: No law or moral decency seem to be taken into consideration when such decisions, most likely illegal, are taken, no matter who is in power in Washington D.C.

It is true that Iran’s domestic politics is not without reproach. This is a country that is run by a mixture of democratic and theocratic rules. However, compared to fundamentalist Islamic Saudi Arabia, Iran is somewhat more democratic and less oppressive of women, even though it does not satisfy all the Western criteria to be a true democratic state. But we don’t declare war on a country because we don’t like its domestic politics. That’s not what the U.N. Charter or the Nuremberg Charter, says.

Logic would have it that all the nuclear countries in that part of the world (Israel, Pakistan, India,) sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), just as Iran has done, because an accidental, or worse, an intentional or provoked, use of nuclear weapons is the greatest threat to the region and to the world. In the long-run, however, the world needs a new and expanded nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT) to prevent nuclear war but, at the same time, to make sure that no country is denied access to nuclear energy that can enhance its economic development. Every country in the world has a right to enrich uranium and operate nuclear power plants.
